Lady Gaga supports diversity and condoms
To encourage fans to look after their own sexual health, pop sensation Lady Gaga had an HIV test during a break in her current Monster Ball Tour. Gaga told Marie Claire that people need to take more responsibility.
“You put that condom in your purse and save your own fucking life. And don’t call me in a week and cry. Because you know that infamous call from your girlfriend – ‘Oh, my God, I got caught up, and I was afraid he wouldn’t like me.’ I mean what year is it? It’s scary, but I want it to be fashionable to be smart.”
Gaga has been urging fans to get serious about practising safe sex. She insists HIV is too dangerous to be taken lightly. The 23 year old singer has teamed up with 80’s pop icon Cyndi Lauper and MAC cosmetics to raise awareness about AIDS.
“Considering how rooted I am in the gay community and the deep respect I have for them, work for this cause is very important to me,” says Gaga. “By being as outspoken as possible on this subject we can raise awareness and protect the health of those we love. But it isn’t just the gay community. It’s all communities, and this is an important message to relay to the younger generation.”
Lady Gaga made her way in the music industry by paying her dues with club gigs and self promotion. “I did this the way you are supposed to. I played every club in New York City and found myself as an artist. I worked hard. And now, I’m trying to change the world, one sequin at a time.”
Lady Gaga spoke at the National Equality March rally last November in the US.

Personally, I think it’s great she has something she believes in though I’m not her biggest fan myself really. But only because I see the influence she has on the very young generations I work around and it’s not actually that positive. You know, the age old argument, five year old girls are being oversexualized by seeing the videos of people like Lady Gaga. She doesn’t really seem to consider that much. But her influence only seems to stunt the growth of these younger generations, which means often they need alot of love and attention to heal the holes that people like Lady Gaga are creating in these young girls and even boys, such as sexual inadequacy, and feeling like they need to be sexual to be accepted.
It just means that they’ll ultimately need to be healed and pulled through those sorts of crisis’, when we could just think more of these younger people and not create such holes and hurts in the first place.
