Today was the day everyone! I told all my closest buds and my parents I’m gay.. I’m flying that purple/ rainbow flag high. with pride. Here are the top 5 things that irritate me about peoples perceptions (About me coming out today) Let me know if any of you have ever experienced any of these dilemas, about or after coming out:

1.) firstly, being a lesbian means that you’re attracted to females. duh.but you get the girls who think that just coz your lesbian your constantly in a state of trying to seduce every girl you lay eyes on.

2.) Then you get the guys, who dis like you. based purely around the fact that you don’t like them or aren’t attracted to them because your lesbian.

3.) Also the straight friends who just stare and say in appropriate things about / to you about attractions of the same sex, thinking they are some how superior to you.

4.) The people who find it appropraite to ask you if your lesbian, before ever asking you how you are? or knowing your name.

5.) People who stereotype.

even with all this, I love myself for who I am. Anyone who doesn’t wont ever be loved by me =) in an ideal world we won’t be judged by our sexuality and that day is today!!!!! every day up until now we struggled for equality and al-though small minded people may judge.. who we are attracted to and love is not up to them. So haters will hate, but we all stand united in love <3 ! (that was such an obama moment lol)

I’ve experienced everyone of these is some amounts. But by letting people get to know me before very casually letting them know I have a girlfriend when the subject arises I find that a lot of conflicts are avoided smile My art class is the best, none of them were my friends at the start of the year but when I started talking about it in class they were all really cool and supportive about it. What pisses me off the most is when people get awkward about it though!

Tell me about it, people really don’t need to try flattering themselves by joking that I’m coming on to them all the time smirk haha!x im just learning how to handle all of this, my straight mate is freking out….why is it do you think that people seem to find it so fasinating?? its sexual orientation and it’s personal, why do people have to make it akward.. grrrr

So true! All of these (: And congrats on coming out. I wish I just had half your strength!

Whats annoying is how all of a sudden its a definition of me! It use to be, Gina is a good friend, Gina is a total idiot, Gina is funny. But now introductions are like. This is my friend Gina, she is a lesbian. Your not suppose to introduce people like that! I mean seriously raspberry

Hey everyone, this is John and he likes girls,
John, this is Erin and she likes girls

Another irking things is when people think just because your gay you will like certain things? Like “Hey, I think you should read this book, it has a gay romance in it”

I dunno, I kinda like stereotypes sometimes. Obviously they’re called that for a reason, that reason being that they are shared habits and such between others of the same group.
Though, there are the bad stereotypes which I dislike as well… Like… ‘Hummingbird Gays’ as I call them. You know, like ‘Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’ kinda people, with that voice, acting all frail and delicate and the ‘flappy hands’. The hand motions is why I call them hummingbirds, lol.
I’ve had friends complain because I don’t act gay enough. I’m too ‘normal’ for them. Isn’t that normally a good thing?  O.o?
Anyways, congrats on being brave and coming out.
