Hey you guys.
Recently I found out that at my school we have quite a large queer student body. Who would have known! smile

I’d really like to set a group up or something and was just wondering if any of you had a QSA running in your school, how it really works….and who did you approach about setting one up?

My school is a catholic all girls school but I dont think they would be against the idea.

Any advice?

Probably dean, teacher’s don’t have that sort of power. My school had one briefly, a poncy all girls anglican school, but it didn’t last long. The group was spread by word of mouth which made it very exclusive firstly. There were more people there for the free food offered and to support lesbians/bisexuals or get some gossip than actually talk about things. I never attended, rather boycotted the whole thing because it was poorly done. If your dean gives you permission you should put up a poster or two somewhere to make people aware.

If your school has a counselling department, get the support of a HOD health/counselling?

Also, you’re in Aucks yeah? Come along to the RY center and talk to Priscilla! She has information booklets and tons of helpful ideas on how to put things into action. And there are a few RY members already running their own QSAs at school you could talk to. wink
