How to be an ally
To confront cultural and school homophobia
- Report it: Talk to the Principal or school management about the problem
- Write a letter to the Boards of Trustees about how bad the problem is. Tell them that something needs to be done
- Speak out against homophobia
- Promote diversity
- Talk to a supportive teacher or the school counsellor about setting up a diversity group
- the chances are there are lots of people who share your belief that something needs to be done in your school about homophobia
- You do not need to be queer to care!

An inclusive, trustworthy and friendly attitude to all people is an important skill. A little work could help you to develop supportive networks, good friends, and help you to become a respected leader.

Being a leader around diversity and acceptance can be challenging. But it looks like you do have what it takes to make a difference for the people around you.

You are a true visionary. You are there for all the people around you no matter who they are.
